The corona wedding: an open letter to my clients

Dear Clients,

As I write this note, I am very much looking forward to being a part of your special event! The novel coronavirus poses many unknowns, with new information being set forth constantly. In these confusing pandemic times, it is possible that you or I will find ourselves in a situation requiring some adjustments. I have been following the situation closely, and staying regularly in contact with other Saint Louis Area special events vendors as we collectively deal with new legislative and safety challenges. I want to assure you that I will continue to be at your back every step of this journey, and address some questions and concerns.

The safety of all involved is of utmost priority. We musicians work many events and are frequently exposed to large groups of people. Whatever phase of the reopening process may be in force at the date of your event, my team and I are committed to abiding by the corresponding safety guidelines as set forth both by the government and the CDC. It is possible, for example, that we will utilize face masks and/or set up to perform in a more discrete location (such as a choir loft). I will continue to monitor the situation closely, and keep you informed as new guidelines emerge.

Rescheduling Policy

Should the unthinkable happen, and your event date fall under local stay-at-home orders, or within Phase 1 or Phase 2 of re-opening, either party may invoke the “Force Majeure” clause of our contract (referring to “orders or acts of military or civil authority, or by national emergencies, medical emergencies” etc.) to postpone/reschedule.

Should this occur, I will reschedule to a new date with you at no additional charge, provided the new date falls prior to January 1, 2022. Be informed that while I will do my best to secure the same musicians which were hired for the original date, it is possible they will be unavailable, necessitating the sourcing of substitutes equally skilled. Should you desire any services to be added after the reschedule, I will continue to solicit your approval in writing before assessing any additional fees. (An example of additional services would be the crafting of an entirely new music plan, when a plan was already completed for the original date.)

As always, I am here for you!

I want to assure you that your mental peace and the success of your event remain top priorities for me. If you are struggling, or have questions or concerns, please reach out; I am just a message or phone call away.

Keep your chin up, stay safe, and know that your love for each other is stronger than any pandemic. Have courage. This, too, shall pass!
